The Commercial Club announced the winners of the 2021 Light Up the Town Christmas Lighting Contest. The winners received $50 in Gladbrook Trade Dollars which can be used at any local businesses in town.

The winner of the “Griswold Display” is Doug Gethmann. His yard was full of trees strung with colored lights – so many trees and so many colors. The highlight of the yard was the reindeer pulling Santa’s sled which was an actual full-sized Jeep.

The next winner is another big display by Andy and Jenna Brallier that was just as bright and colorful but with more of a traditional design appeal. Their property was full of small trees and big trees covered in lights, recognizable blow-up characters, and a big bright “HO, HO, HO.” Brody and Tandi Davis are the winners of the “Best Window/Tree Display” Award. Not only were the trees and bushes in their front yard strung with bright lights but from the street you could see their inside Christmas trees twinkling in the windows.

The “Mayor’s Choice” Award winner was Larry and Shirley Miell with a simple but very nice Christmas light display. Mr. Snowman was seen accompanied by bushes covered in twinkling red lights, two wreaths hanging on the house, the inside Christmas tree sparkling through the front window plus a few lit trees standing tall by the garage. There was also a lighted Christmas tree in the backyard visible from the street.

The Gladbrook Commercial Club wishes to thank all those who took the time and effort to put up outside lights and decorations this year. The displays spread joy and cheerfulness to the neighborhood and those who drove by. Congratulations to this year’s winners.
