What motivated you to run for this office?

As a GMG graduate when I moved back into the district in 2017, I wanted to do something to be better integrated within the community. After successfully running in 2017, I am excited to continue this journey and serve another 4 years for the district

What qualities and behaviors should school board members exhibit?

Board members should be calm, collected and yet ready for anything. Board members need to stay neutral in thought and level headed to always push towards what is always best for the entire district.

What do you see as the primary roles and responsibilities for the position you are running for? The board is responsible to oversee the finances as well contracts, but really the goal is to always do what is best for the district. There can be many tough decisions but doing your research and being prepared for each meeting can go a long way in always making the best decisions possible.

How would you handle requests if approached by an individual? Special interest group?

I always try to listen every time any individual has reached out with concerns. I then help guide them or provide insight the best I can. As one voice I can be a liaison if their needs are warranted but sometimes people just need to vent, and I am happy to help with that too.

What do you feel are the three most important issues the school board will face during your (anticipated) term as a school board member? How do you plan to address those issues?

The most important issues are coming out of/ continuing to manage the pandemic. Continuing to grow and strengthen GMG school pride and how to best plan for the future. GMG has done a great job of spreading the ESSER funds out to make positive changes for the district and overall GMG has been great in handling issues throughout the pandemic. Community involvement had been waning the past few years and our new administrative staff along with the board members has really seen positive changes in the past few months and I believe things will only continue to improve. The board also has taken many steps to develop future plans for the schools, as well as pay off our current loans sooner than expected. With continued progress we can continue to help set up the future generations to keep the district going.

Why should people vote for you on November 2, 2021?

The district has undergone many positive changes in the past few years, all while navigating through uncharted waters with the pandemic and its many curveballs in education. It has been a privilege to serve the past 4 years as a member, with the last year as the president. If elected again, I will continue to serve to the best of my ability and I believe we can continue down the path of making GMG a school of choice.
