Gladbrook announces Halloween festivities

The Gladbrook City Council set Sunday, October 31, 6 to 8 p.m., as Beggars Night in Gladbrook. Along with that, the Gladbrook Commercial Club is sponsoring a variety of activities on Main Street for Halloween.

Activities in town start with a carry-out sack lunch at the United Methodist Church from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Next is Trick-or-Treating at Independent Living from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m..

Trick-or-Treating at Westbrook Acres nursing home is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and even though the children are not allowed inside they can wave at the residents through the big windows on the porch. The residents always enjoy seeing the little ones and treats will be available for the kids.

Main Street activities will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and include some Halloween fun in the grass lot on the south side of the street, a fire truck and ambulance will be parked on the street to investigate, craft & coloring for younger kids at the City Center (upstairs), and some businesses will be available for beggars. The library will be hosting a haunted house from 7 to 9 p.m. at the library. Trunk-and-Treating will be on Main Street, too.

Everyone is invited to drive downtown, park your vehicle as usual, pop the trunk and be ready for the little goblins to stop by for treats. For even more fun, decorate your vehicle/trunk and dress up in costume.

Two blocks of Main Street will be shut down to provide a safe area for the children to go between activities and to Trunk-and-Treat.

To accommodate the Sunday night movie (7 p.m.) at the theater (Cry Macho with Clint Eastwood) please note that parking on Gould Street north of Main Street (street between the City Center and the bank) will be reserved for those going to the movie.

Please join us for a safe, fun, and ghostly-good evening.
