Following an investigation that began in early July, the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) identified a Gladbrook area couple as the individuals found dead at a Linn County recreation area.

The bodies of Courtney Lynne Rhodes, 27, and Cody Michael Rhodes, 31, were found July 2 at the Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area near Palo by a park ranger who was on patrol around 10:45 p.m.

The two were found in a car parked in a lot near the recreation area dam. Officials later said they believed the death to be an isolated incident and did not pose a threat to the community.

A statement by Iowa DCI said autopsies were performed shortly after the bodies were discovered. Autopsy results are pending and as of July 10, the cause of death and manner of death are yet to be determined.

Investigation into the death of Courtney and Cody Rhodes is ongoing and being conducted by Iowa DCI.
