Trio chosen to attend Girls State

Three students from Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School will represent the Reinbeck Legion Auxiliary at the 2021 Girls State Conference. Pictured are, from left: Brooke Peterson, Karlie Rickert, Katie Clark and G-R school counselor Laurie Smith.

Reinbeck American Legion Auxiliary Unit 242 is pleased to announce they have selected Brooke Peterson, Katie Clark, and Karlie Rickert of Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School to represent their Unit at the 2021 Girl State Conference held this June at Drake University in Des Moines.

Iowa Girls State is one of the premier programs sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and was started in hope of teaching young women about the political process.

Girls State is a “Learning by doing” program, which takes the girls through the entire political process. Girls State Citizens must be between their junior and senior year at school to participate.

Brooke Peterson is the daughter of Mark and Theresa Peterson. She is involved in golf, softball, tennis, cheerleader for football and basketball, Student Council Treasurer, class Leadership, drama, speech and has appeared on the Honor Roll consistently.

Katie Clark is the daughter of Shannon and Jedi Clark. She is involved in soccer, volleyball, basketball, speech, drama, Student Council, Youth Group, Class Officer, Community Visioning Committee, and Student Body Vice-President

Karlie Rickert is the daughter of Todd and Alesia Rickert. She is involved in cross country, cheer, soccer, softball, basketball, Student Council, musical productions and speech.
