The Rio Carnaval is one of the world’s most famous events. In Gladbrook the most famous event is the Corn Carnival. Therefore the marriage of the two names is the perfect match. 2021’s Corn Carnival theme is The Cornival. The name and design will be emblazoned across a black and white tie-dye style t-shirt. The t-shirts will be available for sale on April 11 at the annual fundraising dinner.

The committee is planning a fund raiser on Sunday, April 11. Details will be decided at the next Corn Carnival Committee meeting in March. There was a discussion of placing collectible items from past carnivals on sale. The committee also discussed possible collectible ideas that could be on sale for next year’s 100th Anniversary. The 100th Corn Carnival cookbook should be available for purchase by late November.

Each year there is a church service that brings together the local churches and pastors. This is held in the Gladbrook Theatre on Sunday morning. It is the committees hope to bring in an outside speaker as a part of this year’s theme to help with the service. The next meeting of the Corn Carnival Corporation is schedule for March 24 at the City Centre beginning at 6:30 p.m.
