Spartan boys third at NICL invitational

JESUP — Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ cross country team led area teams at the North Iowa Cedar League Invite on Thursday with a third-place finish at the Jesup Golf and Country Club. The Rebels had three top-10 finishers. Kenny Day ran 17:07 to finish in fourth place, Paul Brockett ran 17:29 to finish in ninth place and Sam Schildroth ran 17:30 to finish in 10th place, respectively. Rounding out the top-five for GC/G-R was Ethan Sadler who ran 18:06 to finish in 26th place and Brennen Sager finished in 46th place with a time of 19:05. East Marshall finished in sixth place with Joseph Terrones leading the Mustangs with a 16th place finish and a time of 17:47. Ruben Montoya led BCLUW in its eighth-place team finish with a time of 17:25 and a seventh-place overall finish. West Marshall finished in ninth place with Nicolas Thompson leading the team with a time of 17:26 and an eighth-place finish. In the girls’ race, East Marshall led area teams with a sixth place finish. Ellie Hull led the Mustangs with an 11th place finish and a time of 20:40. McKenzie Robinson ran 21:48 to finish in 27th place while Wendy Liera ran 22:23 to take 37th place. Rounding out the top-five was Addie Lane who finish in 39th place with a time of 22:31 and Hannah Roads who ran 23:18 to finish in 50th place. In West Marshall’s eighth-place finish, Emelia Hauser led the team with a time of 21:25 to finish in 19th place. GC-GR finish in ninth place with Taylor Stahl finishing in seventh place with a time of 20:03 to lead the team. BCLUW fielded an incomplete team but was led by Emma Hoover who ran 23:56 to finish in 58th place
