Photo by Betty Dahms One important part of any G-R Rebel home game is the concession stand. It takes a good group to keep this operation running smoothly, like pictured here on Friday, August 30, at the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Football opening game. Help is always needed, * WE MUST HAVE 10-12 PEOPLE TO WORK EACH VARSITY GAME and we also need help with JV and Junior High games. * You don’t have to work a window and deal with money if you don’t want to. WE HAVE JOBS FOR EVERYONE from wrapping hot dogs to popping popcorn. We would even love your help if you can only work pre-game or during half-time! GLADBROOK — Don Bosco senior Thomas Even ran for 181 yards and four touchdowns as the Dons dismantled Gladbrook-Reinbeck in Friday’s season-opening football game, 44-0. Four of Even’s nine carries reached the end zone, starting with Don Bosco’s first offensive play. Even went 65 yards to paydirt on his first touch, added scoring runs of 35 and 13 yards in the second quarter and closed out his big night with a 45-yard touchdown run in the third period. Even ended with 181 yards on just nine carries and the Dons finished with 307 yards of rushing offense in all. Don Bosco quarterback Cael Frost had a 2-yard touchdown run and a 32-touchdown pass to Fischer Ohrt to round out the team’s scoring. The Dons led 38-0 at the half and handed Gladbrook-Reinbeck its first shutout loss since Hudson edged the Rebels 5-0 in muddy conditions on Oct. 6, 2017. Gladbrook-Reinbeck was limited to just 112 yards of total offense, led by Keagan Giesking rushing 23 times for 79 yards. Giesking also accounted for G-R’s only two pass completions, connecting with Kale Hasselmann for 5 yards and Eli Thede for 4 yards. Gladbrook-Reinbeck goes on the road in Week 2, facing Turkey Valley at 7 p.m. in Jackson Junction.
