Two vehicle accident on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 12:15 p.m. on 7th Street in Dike. Driver #1: Rex Barto, age 55, Dike, driving 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, $500 damage. Driver #2: Christine Geiken, age 25, Dike, driving 2006 Chevrolet Impala, $3,000 damage, #1 Barto, was backing from his driveway and struck #2 Geiken. No injuries and the accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.


Two vehicle accident on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Hwy #14 and 170th Street, 6 miles north of Grundy Center. Driver #1: Taylor Williams, age 28, Grundy Center, driving 2004 Ford F150 pickup, $500 damage. Driver #2: Austin Burroughs, age 20, Grundy Center, driving 2001 Chevrolet Impala, $5,000 damage. #1 Williams and #2 Burroughs were both southbound on Hwy #14 when #1 Williams slowed to pull over due to slick roads and allow #2 Burroughs to pass him. #2 applied brakes, slid on ice and rear ended #1 Williams. No injuries and the accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.


Two vehicle accident on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. on Hwy #20 at 214 mm westbound or 1 mile west of Dike. Driver #1: Hugo Martin Ramos, age 21, Sioux City, driving 2016 Ford F250 pickup, $6,000 damage. Driver #2: Randell Williams, age 60, Marion, driving 2019 Peterbuilt as a truck tractor semi trailer combination, $5,000 damage. #1 Ramos, was westbound on Hwy #20 in the left hand lane passing #2 Williams, who was in right hand lane. #1 Ramos lost control on ice covered road and began to spin, striking left side of semi trailer and entered the median. No injuries and the accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office


Two vehicle accident on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 7:15 a.m. on Hwy #14 in the 30,000 mile or 4 miles northwest of Conrad. Driver #1: Brenden Van Gorp, age 18, Bondurant, driving 2005 Ford Focus, $3,000 damage. Driver #2: JoAnne Hanson, age 61, Dike, driving 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, $15,000 damage. #1 Van Gorp and #2 Hanson were southbound on Hwy #14 when #1 struck snow on or along the highway causing #1 Van Gorp to roll over on its top. #1 caused a ‘white out’ condition and #2 struck #1 in the roadway. #2 Van Gorp was taken to Grundy County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting agencies included: B-Certs, Conrad Fire, Beaman Fire and Unity Point Paramedics-Marshalltown.


One vehicle accident on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 5:39 p.m. on Hwy #20 1 mile west of Hwy #14. Driver #1: Tyson Smith, age 18, Winterset, driving 2006 Jeep Wrangler, $5,000 damage. #1 Smith, was eastbound on Hwy #20, lost control on the snow, entered the median and rolled over. #1 Smith was NOT injured. The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.


Two vehicle accident on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 6:18 p.m. on Hwy #20 1 mile east of Hwy #14. Driver #1: Alexander Van Alstyne, age 25, Ames, driving 2019 Freightliner truck Tractor semi, $5,000 damage. Driver #2: Ashlee Christo, age 19, Woodbine, driving 202 Nissan Maxima, $1,000 damage. #1 Alstyne and #2 Christo were eastbound on Hwy #20. #1 pulled off to the side of the highway for a vehicle that had spun out ahead of him. #2 attempted to stop but lost control on the snow and struck the door of #1 and then entered the median. No injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.


Two vehicle accident on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. on Hwy #20 at the 212 mm or 4 miles west of Dike. Driver #1: Grace Harms, age 18, Cedar Rapids, driving 2007 Chevrolet HHR, $6,500 damage. Driver #2: Jenna Wittrock, age 33, Sioux City, driving 2017 Chevrolet, Traverse, $8,500 damage. #1 Harms and #2 Wittrock, were westbound on Hwy #20 in the passing lane. #1 Harms was slowing down due to road conditions and #2 attempted to slow down but due to snow covered roads, #2 struck the rear of #1. No injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
