GARWIN – Class A No. 9 Hudson handed GMG its third-straight shutout loss in District 5 action, defeating the Wolverines 43-0 on Friday night. Chase Schares ran for 142 yards and two touchdowns for the Pirates (5-0, 3-0), who have allowed a total of 14 points all season. Hudson put away this win with a 16-point fourth quarter. GMG was led by Garrett Groth, who threw for 82 yards and ran for a team-leading 38. Brock Baldazo added 23 rushing yards and had two receptions for 18 yards. Groth finished 8-for-26 passing with three interceptions. Blaze Krull was the leading receiver with a 30-yard catch, and Chance Faircloth had three grabs for 18 yards. Darrin Anderson led the GMG defense with five solo tackles and three assists. Levi Duden had five solos and two assists, and Cade Bovenmyer added three solo and six assisted tackles. Faircloth pulled down a pair of interceptions for the Wolverines (2-3, 0-3), who have been outscored 145-0 in three district games. GMG goes on the road next week to face Belle Plaine.
