GMG netters notch sixth-straight win
CEDAR FALLS – The GMG volleyball team tallied its sixth-straight triumph on Thursday night, knocking off Valley Lutheran in a five-set thriller, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11. Chandler Kendall led a balanced GMG attack with 11 kills in addition to a team-high 10 digs. Josie Claassen racked up eight kills, while Blaire Sonderleiter and McKensie Vaske had seven kills apiece. Katie Airey chalked up 27 assists, and Sonderleiter had five blocks while serving 25-for-25 for GMG. The Wolverines (6-4, 3-0) pulled off the comeback from a 2-1 deficit despite a negative hitting percentage. They amassed 14 blocks as a team and served 105-for-110 with five aces to make up for the hitting woes in handing Valley Lutheran (2-4, 2-1) its first Iowa Star setback.
