“Rebels Fall In Finale Against Trojans” The Rebels boarded the bus and traveled to State Center, Iowa, on January 26 to take on a very good West Marshall team. The first quarter started out slow for the Rebels as turnovers led to some easy baskets for West Marshall. At the end of six minutes the Rebels were sown 7-21. Second period action saw the young Rebels fighting and hustling but not able to make a dent in the deficit, at half-time the men in blue were down 38-13. Coming back out for the third quarter it was important to not give up and keep working has as a team. The Rebels scored seven points but allowed the Trojans to score 10 to make the score 21-48. The final period saw substitutions and playing time at an even level and a season ending defeat 30-58. This was a very enjoyable group of young men to work with and represented their school and community with pride. I would also like to thank and congratulate Coach Luethje and the eighth grade on a most satisfying season. In twenty years of coaching at G-R this is one of the best groups of young men to be associated with.
