GMG Cross Country By: Noah Winters

GMG Cross Country had another successful meet. With injuries sweeping through the team like a mini plague, it was all in all a great meet. The meet kicked off with our junior high runners. While it was a short race at two miles, the young ones pushed through. Zoe Duncan had the fastest junior high time, at 15:11 and placed 24. Her sister, Belle Duncan, finished with a time of 16:11 and placed 53. The junior high boys only had one runner, Ethan Karsjen, who finished with a nice time of 14:10 and took 52 place. The next event led off with the varsity boys. The boys team included Jeff Hughes and Josh Gruen. Gruen returned to running after battling a knee injury. Jeff finished in 21st place with a time of 19:48. Josh, while getting back into the groove of things, finished in 45 place with a nice time of 22:43. The final event of the evening for the Wolverines was the varsity girls race. The Wolverines only had three runners in the race with Kyla Wilkening, Natalie Smith, and making her rookie debut – Haley Stahl. Ella Gruen will be put on a hypothetical injured reserve status for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury. Kyla was the fastest Wolverines with a speedy time of 18:11 and took 12th place. The next runner to finish was Natalie Smith taking 24 place and finishing with a time of 19 minutes flat. The last runner was Haley Stahl. With her first varsity race in the bag, she grabbed 68 place and finished with a time of 24:32.
