G-R Cross Country By: Coach Andy McQuillen-State Qualifying Meet Results

McQuillen The State Qualifying Cross Country Meet for Gladbrook-Reinbeck was held in Eagle Grove on Thursday. With 27 different 1A schools in attendance, over 150 boys runners and 120 girls runners, this had the feel of a state event. The scenic Eagle Grove Golf Course provided plenty of challenges in the terrain, as it was rather hilly. As difficult as the terrain, there was a stiff wind blowing from the northwest that made conditions very chilly. Tyler Bovy led the Rebels in his 14th place finish. Bovy ran a complete race from start to finish, unfortunately so did 13 others ahead of him. Tyler has had a very solid senior season that will carry him well into the track season. Nicole Adair was the first finisher in the girls race for the Rebels with a 25th place finish. As a team, the G-R girls placed 11th, which is one spot better than a year ago. The boys squad does not have five participants to place as a team. Unfortunately the Rebels did not qualify anyone to the State Meet in Fort Dodge, as only the top ten individual place finishers and top three teams move on. State Qualifying teams on the girls side from the Eagle Grove district were South Hamilton (1st), North Iowa (2nd) and Mason City Newman (3rd). The girls individual champion was Tiffany Christensen (15:09) from Eagle Grove who won by well over a minute! The state qualifying team for the boys were West Fork (1st), Algona Bishop Garrigan (2nd), and Eagle Grove (3rd). The boys individual champion was Peyton Twedt (16:44) from West Fork.
