BCLUW Cross Country Results Cross Country courses are far from the same from week to week. The South Hardin Recreational Area provided more challenges for all runners in the up and down landscape. While the weather was nearly perfect, the challenging course provided something different from the heat and humidity most of us have become accustomed to this season. The Rebel girls ran junior varsity in this meet and saw much improved results in the place standings. Meg Edler was the leader of the pack with her 13th place finish (19:44). Hannah Martin was close behind in 15th place (19:57). Kelsey Schwartz was 35th (21:50) and Amber Berendes was 47th (23:46). Vasya Strohbehn and Cole Goos also ran junior varsity for the boys. Vasya finished 33rd (22:32), while Cole finished 69th (28:53). Tyler Bovy was the lone varsity runner in this meet with a time of 18:53 and finished in 21st place. This earned Bovy a medal in the highly competitive varsity race as well. The middle school runner participated as well in a 1.5 mile course. They found the hills of Hardin County to be difficult as well. Lily Ehlers finished 15th (14:05) and Taylor Gienger was 54th (16:49). The boys were led by Max Schweppe in 11th place overall (12:31). Following Max was brother Alex in 38th place (15:10). Zack Davis finished 46th (17:09) and Tyson Creswell closely followed in 49th place (17:30). Preston Goos finished in 50th place (19:44). With the weather cooling down, hopefully we can be fully productive in practice and in meets from this point forward. We have half of the season left and hope to finish strong with improved performances. The challenge at this point in the season is to not get content and fight through the rut of the season. This week we compete in Grundy Center on Thursday, in what is usually a very good field of local schools. This should give us a good taste of what the conference meet will look like in October.
