High School Football-Gladbrook-Reinbeck 47, Iowa Valley 22

MARENGO – Chase Clark sprinted to 243 yards and five touchdowns and the Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team opened Class A District 4 play with a resounding 47-22 triumph over previously unbeaten Iowa Valley. The Rebels (2-2, 1-0) racked up a combined 488 yards of total offense as Clark carried the mail 35 times. He had 255 yards rushing in G-R’s other win at Hudson. Quarterback Trevor Trunck finished the game 11-for-18 for 181 ayrds with a touchdown and two interceptions. He connected with Colton Dinsdale for a 16-yard scoring strike, and three of Clark’s rushing TDs gave the Rebels a 28-0 halftime lead. Joe Zimmerman had four catches for 55 yards in his first action of the season, and Dustin Dinsdale had two grabs for 36 yards. Brandon Lakabung ran for 49 yards. The host Tigers (3-1, 0-1) outscored Gladbrook-Reinbeck 22-19 in the second half, but by then it was too late. Iowa Valley was limited to 8-for-27 passing for 141 yards and two interceptions, with Logan Loftus finishing 5-for-20 for 93 yards. Iowa Valley did run for 294 yards. Trunck added a 1-yard scoring plunge to Clark’s two second-half scores as Gladbrook-Reinbeck bounced back from a shutout loss at home last week to Dike-New Hartford. G-R plays host to BCLUW (1-2) in a district contest next Friday.
