State Track Meet – Gladbrook-Reinbeck was represented at the State Track Meet by the 4×800 team of Sam Johnson, Trevor Trunck, Austin Lott, and Wyatt Swanson, and Wyatt Swanson in the 400M Dash and 800M Run.  The 4×800 team led off the trio of events by placing exactly where they were seeded, 19th.  Their time at the state meet was 8:43.  The kids were disappointed in their times, but the strong southerly winds in Drake Stadium affected times for everyone on Thursday afternoon.  The experience of running at Drake Stadium was an exciting event for all of these young people.  This young group of kids will need to replace Sam Johnson (Senior), but the future is bright in this event.   Wyatt Swanson participated in the 400M Dash on Thursday afternoon as well.  He finished 23rd overall with a time of 53.92.  Wyatt was disappointed with this performance, but learned a great deal from his experiences on Thursday.  Drake Stadium brings out the best in athletes, which requires some adjustment in strategy.  After some discussion of Thursday’s results, Swanson prepared for the 800M run on Saturday morning.  The weather was nearly perfect at race time and Classes 1A and 2A saw some extremely fast times.  Swanson ran his PR for the year with a time of 2:02.07.  This placed 8th overall in Class 1A and earned Wyatt a medal.  This is a strong accomplishment for a sophomore.  Look for more exciting things from Swanson in the future.
