Hello from your friends from Westview for the month of September.

A couple of new things that started at Westview this month is the Bible study group at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights and the new book club on the third Wednesday night of the month at 4-5:00 p.m. or 7-8 p.m. in the dining room. There was certainly a good crowd out for these but always room for more.

On Labor Day we grilled out which is always fun to do.

The 8th Donna was here for our blood pressure check.

On the 9th there was 12 of us that attended the last evening Senior Citizen supper at the Memorial Bldg. It was served by the American Legion Auxiliary. A very good meal was prepared for us and now for the winter they will have their meal at noon. Be sure and check this out.

September 10th a bunch of us from Westview traveled to Independence. First we ate at the new Heartland Restaurant and then toured the Heartland Ag. Museum. If you have never been there, it is really nice and when we got home Lavina Rohach had apple crisp for us to celebrate her birthday. Thanks Lavina.

What a good crowd out every morning for coffee, just shooting the breeze while we are waiting for the mail and on the 11th it was Ruth Holst birthday and her son brought coffee cake for us to enjoy. Many more birthdays Ruth.

Verne Paustain, Connie Thede and I took in the open house for Pioneer’s 75th Anniversary. Verne was a long time employee for Pioneer so it was very interesting to see all the changes there.

You should see the machine that fills the bags of seed corn, certainly a lot different than when I worked there. We are so fortunate to have Pioneer in our town and for 75 years that is so special.

Thanks to Barb Winterroth for bringing us a basket of apples. Everyone enjoyed them because that basketful didn’t last very long.

Also want to thank Ray & Sandy Rannfeldt, Neil and Marge Freitag and Rosie Moser for flowers for our dining room tables-we love real flowers.

We still have our meal from the Fountain On Main and the Corner Cafe once a month which is always good.

For our night on the town this month we checked out Jack & Arnies (the old Skyway) chicken and fish was the big seller but those of us that had steak it was Ray Boege, Christie Bolin, Connie Thede and I at the grill. We want to thank Fran for making us cheese cake for desert for the birthday treats.

On the 28th everyone met in the dining room after exercises to see Christie Bolin (our administrator) dance on the table. We always told her that when she got Westview filled up she had to dance on the table so we cranked up the music and she danced. We had Larry Petersen and Gary Karkosh stand by the table so she wouldn’t fall. I doubt if you could get Workman’s Comp from falling off the table from dancing. It was also Wally Hoffman’s birthday that day so he treated us to cheese cake with raspberry topping and we also had meat, cheese and crackers, coffee and punch. Thanks Wally the cheese cake was delicious.

Cards are going over good on Tuesdays at 1:30 and Fridays at 2:30, and Harold Petersen loves to play bridge so whenever he finds three players to play bridge he is playing. That’s good, Harold.

Dean Anderson and friend from Iowa Falls stopped in and played for us one afternoon this is always good. Playing and singing songs of the “Big Band” era.

Julie from LSB is always here on the last Wednesday of the month at 1:30 for Bunco. So if you like to play Bunco or have never played it before stop in sometime.

We had a good crowd out for bingo so check that out also.

I want to thank everyone from Westview that donated money towards the Crop Walk. What a good day and a very good crowd out for this and thanks Norma Wilson for some of her leftover cookies she sent with me for our coffee break and thanks to Char Manlick, Mary Lou Moser, Sarah King and anyone else that send treats for us. I hate to name anyone because probably forgot someone.

Whoops almost forgot on the 17th a bunch of us ate at Bishop’s again and shopped til we dropped at Crossroads, this is always fun.

Next Sunday, Oct. 11th Mae Jean Hoeppner will be celebrating her birthday in the dining room in the afternoon.
