Band night

For last week’s football game of Glabrook-Reinbeck vs. Grundy the band director, Mr. Reynolds, decided to join the middle school and high school bands. “It’s a great opportunity to let the younger kids see what high school band is like, and it’s also a lot of fun,” said Mr. Reynolds. The middle school joined the high school for a pre game set of the “Star Spangled Banner” followed by the school fight song. At half time, the middle school band performed “Blurred Lines” after the high school played “Word Up” and “Dancing Queen.” Earlier that week a group of high schoolers went to the middle school to practice with them. “It’s good for the middle schoolers to see the high schoolers down here and playing. See that there is a band life after middle school.” The middle schoolers were so excited to see all the high schoolers. Mr. Reynolds now says that he always hears about having the high schoolers down here again. “It was a good time, it gave the kids a chance to see how the big kids do it,” says Carley Crozier, junior. The experience has prompted other merges of the bands in the future.
