Auxiliary Americanism Kindergarten & 5th Grade

G-R 5th Grade Middle School
Gladbrook Kindergarten

Auxiliary Americanism chair, Lisa Reinhard, visited with the kindergarten class to talk about respecting the flag. They learned how the flag is a symbol of the United States and talked how they can show their respect. They learned about placing their hand over their heart and standing when they see a flag in a parade. We watched a video about the Pledge of Allegiance and met and played with puppets, Eddie and Emma Eagle. Lisa visited with the 5th graders and showed a film about the evolution of the flag. They learned about the Gadsden flag being a symbol of patriotism and talked about the Betsy Ross flag. Two students showed how to properly fold the flag and flag etiquette was discussed. The American flag can evoke feelings of pride and loyalty and we hope that everyone shows it the dignity it deserves. “Long may she wave.”
