Public hearing

The City of Reinbeck will be holding a public hearing on January 9, 2017 at the regular meeting of the City Council.

The public hearing is on the proposal to amend the water service system ordinance by the City of Reinbeck. The current Responsibility for Water Service Pipe in Section 90.12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Reinbeck, Iowa, is being repealed and the following adopted in lieu thereof:

Section 90.12 RESPONSIBILITY FOR WATER SERVICE PIPE

90.12 RESPONSIBILITY FOR WATER SERVICE PIPE. The costs and expenses incident to the installation, connection, and maintenance of the water service pipe shall be in accordance with the following:

1. Installation and Connection. The property owner shall be responsible for all costs and expenses of the initial installation and connection of the service pipe from the main to the building served.

2. Maintenance. After the initial installation and connection, the City shall be responsible for maintenance of the service pipe at the main and the property owner shall be responsible for maintenance of the service pipe from the main to the building served including the curb valve.

The owner shall indemnify the City from any loss or damage that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the installation or maintenance of said water service pipe.

Any and all persons who wish to make comment or present objection to the proposed rate changes are advised to appear at the time set for the Public Hearing. Comments may be submitted in writing at the office of City Clerk, 414 Main Street, Reinbeck, Iowa any time prior to said hearing. After the public hearings the City Council will make a final determination on the proposal.
