The Marshalltown Noon Optimist Club in again sponsoring two youth basketball tournaments for students in grades 5-8. The girls’ division of the Marshalltown Optimist Basketball Invitational (MOBI) will be played Saturday, January 21. Deadline for entering the girls’ MOBI is January 9, 2017.

The boys’ division will be played Saturday, February 4. Deadline for entering boys’ MOBI is January 23, 2016.

Each team is guaranteed three games in pool play with four teams from each grade qualifying for the championship round.

Entry forms may be downloaded from the website www.noonoptimist.org. Tournament rules are also posted on this site along with the list of teams entered, according to Larry Park, tournament chairman. Coaches may also contact Park at 641-485-6134 or by email at Ldpark2@gmail.com.

“We encourage coaches to enter their teams as soon as possible,” Park emphasized. “We always have a rush of entries as the entry deadlines approach!”
