The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and the Grundy Center Police Dept. are investigating several burglaries and thefts of items from vehicles during the past 2 weeks.

The first thefts were reported in the City of Dike on Monday, July 18 where 5 vehicles and/or garages were entered. Various power tools were taken along with some cash.

The second thefts were reported in the City of Reinbeck on Wednesday, July 27 where 7 vehicles and/or garages were entered. Electronics and cash were taken.

Also on July 27, 14 thefts were reported in the City of Grundy Center. Wallets, cash and miscellaneous items were taken.

The Sheriff’s Office and Police Dept. are urging residents to lock their motor vehicles, especially those parked on the street or in your driveway at night. Officers also ask that you remove valuables from your vehicles at any time.

Officers also appreciate the calls of ‘suspicious activity’ they have received and urge residents to call when they see or hear anything.
