Tama County Fair Queen candidates
They will be riding in convertibles at the Corn Carnival Parade on June 24, 2016 along with the 2015 Tama County Fair Queen, Aubree Beenken and the current Iowa State Fair Queen, Ellen Schlarmann. Ellen is from Monticello and represents Jones County as the 2015 Great Jones County Fair Queen.
She is a 2016 graduate of Monticello High School, serving as valedictorian. She was a member of the National Honor Society and active in cross country, basketball and track. She lives in Monticello with her parents and 2 younger sisters and enjoys spending time with her family vacationing, camping, playing cards with her grandparents and participating in RAGBRAI with her grandmother.
Judging for the candidates will take place at the Lincoln Savings Bank in Tama on July 17 and the Queen will be announced at the Tama County Fair show ring on Thursday evening, July 21.
Anna Dvorak is the 16 year-old daughter of Kevin and Lori Dvorak of Chelsea. She will be a senior at South Tama in the fall. While in high school, Anna has been very active in all areas of band, including jazz, concert, marching and honor bands. She has also participated in tennis, plays and musicals and FFA. This past spring, she was selected by the Tama County Pork Producers to travel to Florida to learn about agricultural experiences. In her community, Anna volunteers with Barb-Wire Ranch and the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown. In her spare time, Anna works at Fareway in Toledo. She also likes to spend time with family and friends. Anna’s future plans include attending Kirkwood to pursue a degree in floral design.
Madeline Mussig is the 18 year-old daughter of Chad and Karen Mussig of Gladbrook. She is a recent graduate of Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School. Throughout high school, Madeline was involved in volleyball, managing the boy’s basketball team, track, chorus, the musical, EAGLE, National Honor Society, FFA, 4-H and Tama County Council. This past year, Madeline served as a volleyball team captain, president for the Gladbrook Gals & Guys 4-H Club, G-12 FFA Chapter and her senior class. She was also crowned the 2015 Homecoming and graduated in the top 10% of her class. Throughout the year, Madeline volunteers at her parish, St. Henry’s Catholic Church, as a religious education teacher. During the summer, she is a vacation bible school teacher. Madeline works as a waitress at Spanky’s Restaurant and Catering and the Northern Sun Print in Gladbrook. She plans to attend Iowa State University to major in Secondary English Education.
