3rd annual Feathers & Fur

The 3rd Annual ‘Feathers and Fur’ Baby Shower benefiting Black Hawk Wildlife Rehab Project and Waverly Pet Rescue will take place on Sunday, April 17th from 1:00-4:00 pm in the earth home located at 123 Morrow St. in Waterloo.

This annual event helps these two 501c3 animal rescue organizations care for the influx of abandoned, orphaned, injured and stray wildlife and/or domestic animals rescued during the busy spring season. Both organizations are entirely operated by volunteers, and necessary items required for their daily needs are provided by the BHWRP rehabbers and WPR foster families at their own expense. Donations are always needed and greatly appreciated to offset their costs.

BHWRP volunteers will be bringing a couple of the educational adults who are permanently in their care due to not being able to return to the wild, and there may be a ‘surprise wildlife guest’ as well. Those in attendance can see how their donations are used towards their care, as well as learn more about what goes into rescuing wild animals who are native to or migrating through Iowa.

Both organizations have been honored locally for their efforts by being selected as Heroes Among Us recipients during the annual presentation by Wheaton Franciscan HealthCare; BHWRP was the recipient in the 2010 Animal Category and WPR was the recipient of the 2015 Environmental Category during the 2016 presentation in March at the Pipac Convention Center in Cedar Falls.

More information about the type of items needed can be found on each organizations Facebook page. Monetary donations are always welcome and can be mailed to either Waverly Pet Rescue at PO Box 291, Waverly, IA 50677 or Black Hawk Wildlife Rehab Project, 6234 Heath Road, Waterloo, IA 50703. All donations are tax deductible.
