Farm succession planning: Grundy County Young Farmers meetings return Jan. 5 and 12

Iowa State University Extension & Outreach Grundy County’s office will again be holding a series of meetings for young farmers in the area. The early 2016 series will focus on farm transitioning and succession planning.

January 5, 2016 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. join ISU Extension & Outreach Farm Management Specialist Melissa O’Rourke to learn about common estate planning mistakes, trends in farm estate planning and the business logistics of succession planning.

January 12, 2016 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Visit with ISU Extension & Outreach Farm Management Specialist Melissa O’Rourke regarding substitute decision-making, fair vs. equal treatment, family communications and the relationship building necessary for successful farm transitioning.

Both meetings will be held at the Grundy County Extension & Outreach office, 703 F Avenue, Suite 1, Grundy Center. A meal sponsored by the Iowa Corn Growers & Iowa Soybean Association will be provided for all participants and there is no cost for the program.

Young farmers are invited to bring spouses and current landowners or other family members!

Prospectus, new and existing farmers are welcome; meetings are intended as networking and educational opportunities.
