Tama County youth to celebrate national 4-H week

More than 6 million young people across the country will celebrate National 4-H Week, an annual celebration of 4-H during the first full week of October. To celebrate National 4-H Week, Tama County will showcase the great things that 4-H offers young people and highlight the incredible 4-H youth in the community who work each day to make a positive impact on the community. The theme this year is “4-H Grows Here” and 4-H does help our members grow in confidence, courage, compassion, creativity and much more.

4-H, the nation’s largest youth development and empowerment organization, cultivates confident kids who tackle the issues that matter most in their communities right now. In the United States, 4-H programs empower six million young people through the 109 land-grant universities and Cooperative Extension in more than 3,000 local offices serving every county and parish in the country.

Tama County 4-H is excited to be hosting three “4-H Find Out Nights”. All members of the community are invited to attend these sessions, which will include information on what 4-H is, selecting a 4-H club to join and what each clubs does, make and take items in working exhibits, door prizes and a simple meal. Each event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Events will be held on Monday, September 28th at the Tama County Extension Office; October 5th at the North Tama Activity Center and October 12th at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Come and find out what Tama County 4-H has to offer your young person.
