Phil Dicks of Grundy Center won first place and a $2,000 cash award in the Beeler’s Bacon Dessert competition, judged Sunday at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

Marianne Carlson of Jefferson claimed second place and $1,000. Susie Jones of Waukee claimed third place and $500.

Contestants were challenged to create a decadent dessert using Beeler’s bacon as a featured ingredient.

Entries were judged on taste, best use of bacon and originality.
