Emlin Schnathorst Junior of Norwalk won first place in the Mine Is The Best BBQ Sauce competition, judged Friday at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

Phil Dicks of Grundy Center claimed second place and Ty Burger of Runnells earned third place. Judges awarded Honorable Mention to Mark Pleis of Des Moines.

Entries were judged on appearance, taste and originality.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 228 divisions, 850 classes and over 10,600 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Wells Blue Bunny.
