United Church of Christ luggage of love mission accomplished

The Mission, to provide comfort and dignity to vulnerable children in the midst of sadness and uncertain situations that are beyond their control. By providing a duffel bag and a few comfort items we are trying to give hope and dignity to children who end up in emergency transitional situations (foster care). NO MORE MOVING THEIR BELONGINGS IN GARBAGE BAGS! The goal was to fill 25 bags. As a church, we filled 27 duffle bags along with a donation 8-$25 Wal-Mart gift cards ($200) to be used for other items that may be needed right away like diapers, pull-ups, formula, bottles, etc. Each bag had a fleece blanket that was made by the youth of the church, a pillowcase sewed by one of the ladies of the church, a mini-flashlight, glow sticks, stuffed animal, cards, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, journal, coloring book, pens and/or color pencils. Bags were delivered to the Department of Human Services on Friday, July 10, 2015. Butler County DHS covers Grundy, Bremer, Butler and Franklin counties.
