Audit report

Auditor of State Mary Mosiman released an audit report on Grundy County, Iowa. The County had local tax revenue of $20,807,278 for the year ended June 30, 2013, which included $948,674 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $15,388,964 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.

The County retained $5,418,314 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations, a 3.9% increase over the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $1,408,608, operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $4,040,550, capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of $309,861, local option sales tax of $385,885, unrestricted investment earnings of $42,769 and other general revenues of $87,684.

Expenses for County operations for the year ended June 30, 2013 totaled $11,751,084, a 2.7% decrease from the prior year. Expenses included $5,050,927 for roads and transportation, $1,775,041 for public safety and legal services and $1,726,718 for administration.
