Mayor Shawn Murphy resigned as Reinbeck’s mayor on April 6, 2014. City administrator Julie Wilkerson said the reason was due to a conflict of interests with the housing development in Reinbeck and the company that Murphy works for.

The council will put on the agenda to appoint a new mayor. Council member Tim Johnson is currently serving pro-tem.
