The 4th Annual Parkersburg Race of Remembrance is approaching. This running event is fun, competitive and a great way to showcase and support the community. The event, including the EF5K walk or race and the Ed Thomas 10K race will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 8:30 AM with the same courses as last year. Register online at www.parkersburgrace.webs.com. A 1/4 mile kids fun run will also be held on the AP High School Track prior to the start of the race for those from 3-12 years old, with no registration necessary.

The Parkersburg Race of Remembrance was first started in 2009 in remembrance of the EF5 tornado that tore through Parkersburg on May 25, 2008. It was a time to reflect upon the recovery and hope in the community. In 2010 the Ed Thomas 10K race was added in memory of a good friend and mentor, Coach Ed Thomas.

These events have raised around $24,000.00 for the community by providing funds to the Parkersburg Town Pool, Parkersburg Kothe Memorial Library and Ed Thomas Family Foundation over the last three years. Last year over 450 people joined in on a wonderful morning in May!
