Tama Co. 4-H-Toledo Techs 4-H Club – Join Them!

The club created posters to hang up at the STC schools in October during National 4-H Week

4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential through youth-adult partnerships and research-based experiences. And you will find that and more in the Toledo Techs 4-H Club! Toledo Techs 4-H Club are open to all youth in grades 4-12th. Youth who are interested in learning more about food & nutrition, sewing, photography, painting as well as cattle, swine and sheep are members of this club. It is not required that you live on a farm to be part of 4-H. Members also learn about leadership, communication and citizenship. Toledo Techs meet monthly on the first Monday of the month at the Tama County Extension and Outreach Office (203 West High Street, Toledo – use the back entrance). The meetings are organized by club leaders Patrick Henry and Darla Thiessen but are run by the 4-H members themselves. Parents are needed throughout the year to help. 4-H is a family event. The club plans many activities throughout the year. These activities focus on the 4 H’s of 4-H: Head, Heart, Hands and Health. Examples are creating Veteran’s Day cards, planting flowers by the Extension Office, promoting 4-H at STC schools, inviting a community member to teach them about photography, attending a movie together, summer swim party and more. The club works together to get ready for the Tama County Fair. You will find them helping each other in the barns, creating a club booth, trash duty, and hosting the building. Toledo Techs currently have 26 enrolled 4-H members. They welcome you to check them out. Their next meeting is on Monday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tama County Extension and Outreach Office.
