The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary served the December Senior Citizens Dinner in the Festival of Tree on Dec. 6th. The theme was “Frozen Christmas” and the Seniors were amazed with the beautiful decorations and stunning trees. Some even walked through the ice tunnel. The tables were decorated with gold and red balls, evergreens, and candles. The Jr. Auxiliary made gingerbread houses for their favors. Ann Vibbard played Christmas carols before the meal. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Darrell Paustian. After the turkey dinner with all the trimmings, Pat Clausen started the program with everyone singing Christmas carols. She read the history of each carol and many were surprised how long ago they were written. The Seniors then enjoyed a game where they won prizes if the question pertained to them. Lynn Steiert picked out the first gift because he had the only Christmas birthday. Many did have birthdays in December and another big group was Gladbrook graduates and living in another state . Chuck Delfs won the door prize. The Seniors each received a Santa Sack. The next Senior dinner is March 13th.
