Gladbrook Women’s Club
Fifteen members of the Gladbrook Women’s Club met at the home of Jean Livingston for the September meeting. The meeting opened with an excellent program on “Operation Life Save”, information about railroad crossing safety given by William Backoff. June, acting as President Pro-Tem, called the meeting to order. The minutes, treasurer’s report and proposed budget were read and approved. The upcoming Holiday Happenings scheduled for November 19 was discussed. The program this year will be an exciting vocalist from Waterloo along with the tasty meal and great door prizes. The members also voted to have a Spring Lunch open to all in the community. This will be a little different from the teas that we have hosted in the past. Details will be announced at a later date. Birthdays and anniversaries were announced for the month of September. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Hostesses Joan, Jean, Karen and Mary Jane served delicious sandwich lunch. The next meeting will be October 11, 2018.
Gladbrook Women’s Club
The October Gladbrook Womens Club meeting was held October 11, 2018 at Spanky’s Restaurant . Nineteen members and two guests Diane Bru and Bonnie Murty were in attendance. President Vivian welcomed Joe Quantt, representing the Tama County Sherriff’s office. BJ introduced Deputy Quantt to the group and he presented an informative program on home safety with time for questions and discussionfrom the members. President Vivian called the meeting to order. The Secretary and treasurer’s reports were approved as read. The main item of business consisted of committee reports for the upcoming exciting Holiday Happenings on November 19. Members received tickets to sell for this event and are available to the community for $20.00 each for a wonderful evening out with friends. The November meeting on November 8, and will start at the traveling DNR exhibit that will be in front of the library for one week. It is an informative, interactive display open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. The business meeting will follow at Barb’s home. The December meeting will be at the Binford House at noon on December 13th. Birthdays and Anniversaries were read for October. June announced hospice for November. With no further business, a dessert lunch was served. Hostesses were Marcy, Avriel, Carolyn A. and Suzanne.
