Twenty members gathered for the annual Christmas luncheon held January 21, 2017. Kathy Herink, Joyce Bruene, Avriel Koester, Suzanne Boldt, and June Klinefelter served a delicious lunch on Christmas snow globes decorating the tables. Martha Gamble chose the topic of Christmas in the early school programs. Each person attending talked about their experiences. These were enjoyed by all. Following June Klinefelter opened the business meeting. Pauline Flamme read the minutes of the November 16, 2016 meeting. No corrections were made. June reported that Pauline Flamme and her prepared lunch for visiting clergy on December 2, 2016. The group wished to return March 9, 2016. Volunteers needed. Treasurers report was given by June Klinefelter. Old business: We will be serving the Senior Citizens Dinner on March 18, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. The committee is June Klinefelter, Karen Pieper, Bonnie Murty, March Knaack, and Diane Mussig. We have been asked to serve a tour group of Tama, Grundy, Bremer, and Buchanan counties. They will be touring the Barn Quilts and Underground Railroad. We will need to provide a lunch and host in the spring. The group is being sponsored by two libraries, it is a one day affair with a tour and slides. No action was taken. Marcy Knaack presented the need for a coordinator for the blood drives at our church. We will be having one here on January 10, 2017. Becky Fish told about the Kids Shopping Day. They need volunteers. The Lions Club soup day profits on December 10 are support for Tate Koester’s medical bills. Someone mentioned that there is turkey and ham in the church freezer. Pauline and Rev. Carol are going to make egg casseroles for the Christmas Day brunch. June closed the meeting with the story of Christmas.
