On Tuesday December 13 the Alpha Study Club gathered for a Christmas luncheon in Spankys’ party room. The Social Committee of Pauline Flamme, Avriel Koester, Rose Russell, Shirley Swenson, Deb Wentzien and Shirley Young did an exceptional job of decorating for the festivities. The luncheon started with appetizers and warm wassail followed by a yummy chicken and rice casserole, salad and roll. Members then enjoyed a selection of caramel cheesecake, chocolate cake and raspberry pretzel dessert. Throughout the meal Claire Handorf of the Program Committee quizzed the group with Christmas carols and candy bar riddles. Jean Livingston of the Program Committee then read Mr. Darcy’s Night Before Christmas. The book blends Moore’s Christmas classic with Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice as Mr. Darcy gets his own visit from St. Nichols. The event was enjoyed by everyone.
