Gladbrook UMW

Twelve UMW met November 15 in the church parlor. Diane Mussig led the devotions before the group had tasty pecan/date and cranberry bars with coffee and tea. The committee of the day was Patsy Rinz, Marcy Knaack, Carolyn Anker and Diane Mussig. Patsy Rinz had the lesson telling of her experiences with the In-Gathering held each year-the first Saturday in November at the First United Methodist church in Cedar Falls. She told us the number of kits our church prepared this year and what the In-Gathering involved. First we left off the kits. Entering the church we signed in and bought lunch. There was a display representing our missions, bake sale, craft bazaar, dedication of the4 kits, lunch and auction of the quilts. A very informational day! June Klinefelter opened the meeting. The secretary report was given of the October meeting. Correspondence was from Leslie Holl, thanking the group for the memorial gift of her father, Ken Bruene. Also a letter from Hawthorn Hill-Bidwell Riverside center-two organizations are combining into MSO-Management Service Organization under one executive director in January 2018. Kay Lowry gave a report on Trunk or Treat committee Oct. 31. They served 136 hot dogs, chips, and drink. She suggested they have four instead of three on committee. Kathy Poling and RoseMary McKinney added to the report. June Klinefelter reported income from the soup supper with more to add. No bills. More roaster liners were replaced from Martin Bros. New Business: 1. Santa Sacks needed on Dec. 18. Last year 35 were handed out. The sack includes a pencil, fruit, and rice krispie bar. Kathy Poling and Carolyn Moe volunteered for 2016. 2.
