Gladbrook Public Library

This Past Week… What Wonderful and Fun Times we are having at the Gladbrook Public Library! We had our Adult Craft Group in on Monday the 14th and had 16 Crafters!! Our Gals made “Scrap Wreaths” from pieces of Leftover Fabrics and turned them into Beautiful Wreaths for both Fall and Christmas! A Great Time was had by All and we are Looking Forward to our Next Craft Day on Monday, Nov 28th at 2 pm, when we’ll be Making Christmas projects from Recycled Old Book Pages. I’ll be posting Pictures of our Projects on our Gladbrook Library Facebook Page. Remember: New Crafters are ALWAYS Welcome! Our Story Hour on Wednesday was another day of Excitement, with Children’s Story Hour getting ready for “Thanksgiving”. We read Books about the Holiday, Made Turkey Hats from Paper Plates, “Shook our Tail Feathers” by Putting Feathers into Empty Kleenex Boxes and Shaking them out, and eating our “Cone”ecopias filled with Gummy Fruit and Goldfish Crackers! Join us Next Time on Wednesday, Nov. 23rd during *National Game and Puzzle Week*, when we Will be Having A Morning Full of Books, Fun & Crazy Games! What’s New at the Library? We are Starting a New Library LEGO Checkout Club! Starting Monday, Nov 21st thru Monday, Dec 19th, , for each Book Checked out we Will Hand the Kids 3 Legos to Add to our Platform. On Dec 19, (the night of our Library Children’s Christmas Party), we will unveil the finished Structure and take a Pic with the Kiddos that Built it! Can’t Wait to See what they Will Create! The Winner of our Pilgrim Naming Contest is… Sydney Vavroch with the Girl Name of Madelyn and Boy Name of Elie. Congratulations to our Winner! A Special Thank You Again, we are Thanking all the People who Volunteer, Donate and Support our Local Library! Because of You and Grants Received, we were Able to Obtain New Furniture for our Young Adult and Children’s Areas. Stop in and See the Adorable new Bean Bags, Gaming Chairs and Large Rug, along with the Hub Table and Tall Stools that have plug-ins built into the top of the table for your laptops, phones, etc.

Greetings from The Gladbrook Public Library What a Wonderful time we are having at the Gladbrook Public Library! Monday was enjoyed by our Coloring Group, as they are Working on Projects to be Shown at our Christmas Party/Fundraiser coming up on Dec 16th. AND, Speaking of Fundraiser… We are planning on having our Christmas Open House this year on Friday, Dec 16th from 5:30-7:00 pm!! During this Open House we will be having a Silent Auction to Raise Funding for Mobile Shelving that can be Moved to Outer Edges of Library during Programs, Crafting, etc., thus, Opening up Space down the Center of the Library! As our Numbers Continue to Increase, this would be a Partial Solution to our Wonderful Rising Patron/Circulation Rate! Silent Auction Items will be Out for Viewing and Bidding on Monday, Dec 5th, so Stop in AND See our Wonderfully Donated Items. If you would like to Add to the Auction prior to the 5th, we are Asking for only NEW Items OR Nice Crafts at this time. Winners will be Announced at 7 pm on the 16th and you need not be present to Win. Photo Displays of our Groups that Use the Library will also be on Display, as well as Refreshments being Served! Back to Business… We also had fun at Story Hour on Wednesday, Celebrating Game and Puzzle Week. We played games like Popsicle Dominoes, Magnets and Chase the Cheerio. We even had Domino Cookies as our Game Day snack! A Special Thank You We have had Numerous Donations of Books, Snacks and Drinks brought in for our Adults and After School Kids this past Week… We Sincerely Thank You for your Generosity!! It means a lot to Us that the Community is Sincerely Behind our Efforts in Improving our Library! More Exciting News: We will be having an Adult Raffle beginning Dec 1st thru Dec 19th. For Every Book our Adult Patrons Check Out, We will Enter your Name in our Raffle. The More Books you Read = The Better Your Chances to WIN!! We are giving away both a Gift Card and Merchandise from LOCAL shops (Serendipity By Deb and Old Mill Road) totaling nearly $50. A GREAT Christmas Gift from our Hometown Gladbrook Library to YOU!! Also, we have been approached about Starting a Crochet Group; therefore, After the First of the Year, we will begin offering this Service from 3:30 – 5 pm on Tuesdays!! We have even had offers to teach Crocheting to those who would like to Start this Great Hobby!
