Gladbrook Women’s Club

Following our Annual Senior Citizens Dinner, President Shirley Young called the meeting to order with 11 members present. After being read, the Secretary’s report was accepted as presented. The Treasurer’s report, with all our annual donations paid, was also accepted as presented. Correspondence was received from the Cedar Valley Hospice reminding us of the annual Cedar Valley Hospice Volunteer’s Dinner on April 26. Old Business: Committee members reported that the Easter Egg Coloring project went well due to the help of all committee members, Marilyn Peters, and many enthusiastic residents. The Spring Tea is still tentative with 18 tickets sold so far and a few others being tentative. Members will be contacted, if they have not already been, to see who might also want tickets for themselves or others. Senior Citizen Dinner preparations were discussed with the following suggestions: GWC members need earlier or stronger reminders about the change of our meeting for that one month; they need to notify Jeanne about their reservations to avoid confusion, which could be done with a sign-up sheet passed at the previous month’s meeting; and those husbands or friends who will be attending with a GWC member should be noted. Teacher Appreciation gifts to the Crayon Corner Learning Center staff were bags of Crispix Mix with notes of gratitude attached. Barb moved that GWC place a Thank You item in the Northern Sun Print showing our appreciation for all Gladbrook area merchants. Motion was seconded and approved. New Business: Seventeen members have signed up for the May Outing to Pella and drivers have been designated. Avriel moved to give a Spanky’s gift certificate to Larry and Shirley Miell to express our sincere appreciation for being able to keep our storage tubs in their garage. Seconded, and carried. Hospice Cookies and Birthdays/Anniversaries finished the official business. Shirley closed the meeting with some happy thoughts about Spring.
