Gladbrook Women’s Club

The Gladbrook Women’s Club met March 10th at Independent Living. Vice-president Avriel Koester opened the meeting with “Spring Poetry”. She introduced Heather Warren who gave a presentation on how to tie scarves. Each member had a scarf they were able to practice with. She said the colors for spring are bright yellow, green and red. There is no wrong way to wear a scarf. Each member received a handout on how to tie a scarf. Roll call was answered by sixteen members. The secretary’s minutes from February were read and approved. Treasurer June Klinefelter gave the treasurer’s report. A donation was made to the After Prom committee. Members voted to give a monetary donation to the Education Fund with a portion going to Crayon Corner Learning Center and a portion to the Library. The staff at Crayon Corner Learning Center will be recognized for Teacher Appreciation. The Spring Tea will be April 24th at the Memorial Building. Tickets are $20. Signup sheets were passed for the general meetings in 2016-17 and Holiday Happenings. The April meeting will be held Friday, April 8th and will be serving Senior Citizens at the Memorial Building. The May membership meeting will be at the tea room in Pella. Members discussed ideas for the float for this year’s Corn Carnival, the theme is “Cruising to Carnival”. Pat Clausen gave the nomination report and Marcy, June and Rhonda will remain in their current positions of recording secretary, treasurer and corresponding secretary for another two years. The Easter Egg committee colored eggs with the residents at Westbrook Acres on March 21st. Avriel read birthdays and anniversaries for March. The hostesses, Rhonda, Carolyn Groth and Vivian served a delicious St. Patty’s dessert.
