January and February has made an exciting winter for the Gladbrook Gals and Guys 4-H Club! In the time of two months, we’ve gone on two trips and can’t wait for the next. On January 9, a group of 20 members and a few friends went to Cedar Rapids. In Cedar Rapids, we went to Sky Zone, a trampoline park where we enjoyed a ball pit, trampoline basketball, dodgeball, and a huge jumping area to do tricks and jump around. After two hours of jumping, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch and then to the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library. We learned many facts about the interesting Czech and Slovak people and cultures. At the museum there were many displays. The clothing was quite colorful, and the pop-up books were exciting to look through. Walking through the displays and reading about their struggles and accomplishments made all of us reflect on our own lives and feel privileged we have grown up in a time of peace and freedom. However, our most recent trip was on February 15, the Gladbrook Gals and Guys travelled to Sundown Mountain Ski Resort in Dubuque. The weather couldn’t have been better. Most of the group went through the eight-step lesson program provided, but some headed straight for the slopes. We had lunch at the lodge and enjoyed dinner at Pizza Hut. I think it’s safe to say that everyone was pretty tired on the ride home. The Gladbrook Gals and Guys next event will be a Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast Fundraiser. It will be hosted on Sunday, March 13 at the Memorial Building from 8 AM to 12 PM. Hope to see you there!
