The Gladbrook Legion, Auxiliary and Jr. members met on Wed., Dec. 9th, for a Christmas dinner served by the Auxiliary. Before the dinner, Ray (Bubba) Sorensen II, who is painting the Freedom Rock, spoke to the group. He stated that the Tama County rock is the 41st county to have their Freedom Rock painted. Bubba told about how he decided to start painting rocks in honor of our veterans. He answered several questions about the painting and designs on the Freedom Rock. After the dinner hosted by Lori Sanderson, Jackie Sherman, and Paula Hamann, the Juniors performed a skit to the Christmas story. They were all dressed in costumes as they told the story of the birth of Jesus. They ended their program by everyone singing Christmas carols by candlelight. The Juniors each received a reindeer ornament from their Leader Jeanne Paustian. The Juniors will have their own Christmas and show party later in December. During the Auxiliary meeting the group voted to give the Legion $500 toward the Freedom Rock expenses. Joyce Bern brought all different kinds of votive candle holders one for every Auxiliary member present. Everyone enjoyed a grab bag gift exchange. The next joint Legion & Auxiliary meeting is Mon., Jan. 18th, at 6:30 with the Legion hosting a soup supper.
