Local athletes receives Central College volleyball award

PELLA, IOWA–Emily Stoakes, sr., right side hitter, 6-0, Gladbrook-Reinbeck HS Awards/honors: Three varsity letters; Leadership Award (2015); North Park (Ill.) Viking Clash all-tournament team (2014); Illinois College Inv. all-tournament team (2014) 2015 stats: 7 matches played, 21 kills (1.05/set), .085 attack percentage, 5 assists, 3 digs, (0.15/digs), 5 blocks; Ellie Stoakes, so. right side, 5-10, Gladbrook-Reinbeck HS Awards/honors: One varsity letter 2015 Stats: 16 matches played, 19 kills, (0.76/set), .026 attack percentage, 5 assists, 11 digs, (0.44/set), 9 blocks, have been honored for their contributions to the Central College volleyball team. The Dutch went 15-18 on the year, winning their first seven matches, the best start since the 1999 national championship squad. Central finished 1-6 in Iowa Conference play and ended the season in seventh place in the conference standings. Middle hitter Jenna Dille (sophomore, Carlisle) was named an all-conference honorable mention and was awarded the team’s Most Improved Award. The team’s Most Valuable Player was awarded to outside hitter Nicole Ewoldt (junior, Hull/Boyden-Hull HS). Coach Kent Clayberg awarded 17 varsity letters at the team’s recent awards banquet with 15 letterwinners slated to return in 2016.
