Bonnie Murty opened the meeting on Wednesday, November 18, with her devotions on the fall season. Diane Mussig and Marcy Knaack served delicious coffee cakes-apple and pumpkin-keeping with the fall season. Rev. Carol Kress had the lesson highlighting caffeine drinks and how they affect the body. She had a video explaining this, how much is in our beverages and the reactions persons have when they have an overdose. June Klinefelter opened the business meeting answering roll call, “If you won the lottery, what would you do with the winnings?” Pauline Flamme read the minutes of the October 21 meeting. One correction was made. Only one correspondence had been received from Hillcrest, thanking us for our support. Marcy Knaack gave the treasurer’s report. She reported that we had an increase in our profit in the soup supper held on November 3. There are some bills yet to be paid. Old Business: Nineteen ladies of the twenty ladies enjoyed the trip to the Amanas to eat at the Ronneburg and see the production “The Church Ladies Last Potluck” at the Old Creamery theater on October 22. “Trunk or Treat” was a success. It was reported by the committee that it was fun to see and visit with the families that attend. The group informed that a 100 cup coffee maker will need to be replaced along with a roaster. New Business: Three annual UMW charitable donations amounts for the year were decided. local food pantry, Chester Hall and Bidwell. RoseMary McKinney made the motion to approve and Carolyn Moe seconded. The vote passed. Carolyn Moe gave information about the Be Friender group. They have moved their training to April of next year. National training locally will be early in April next year. Three from the Methodist Church, two from Peace and one from Traer Methodist. A scholarship is being established for local members and trainers. Diane Mussig reported her group went to Westbrook. They entertained with a sing-a-long using the keyboard and served pumpkin bars. No President and Vice President have been found. Patsy reported that she was happy about our church’s response to the kits at the In Gathering. We provided 147 kits this year. Rev. Steve was there in Nigeria when they arrived and was happy to report about the kits. He told that each kit was divided between many rather than just one getting a whole kit. Kay Lowry and Carol Mead will be selecting and handing out sacks to the Sunday school members and guests after their program. Our next meeting will be a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on December 16. A paper was passed for reservations. Patsy has devotions and Martha has the program-she is asking each person to bring their favorite Christmas card. The UMW purpose was read in unison to close the meeting. Pauline Flamme
