Garwin Roughriders 4H

By: Frances Jackson After a fun hayride in beautiful November weather, the regular meeting of the Garwin Roughriders 4-H group was held at Chapel Church on 11/8/2015. The meeting was called to order by Secretary Frances Jackson at 6:15 p.m. Ethan led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was answered with what is your favorite Thanksgiving food. It was answered by nine members; there were four parents and one guest present. Jenny Hulme came to introduce herself to our group and talk about what she does at the extension office. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Hallie motioned to approve and Stephenie seconded, the motion passed. The treasurer’s report was read and we got our fair premiums. Are balance on hand is $732.92. Emilie motioned to approve and Angel seconded, the motion passed. There was no old business, but Frances gave a report on the officer training that she and Lindsey attended. In new business, a bill was presented to pay Tammy for historian’s book supplies. A motion was made by Stephenie and seconded by Jace, the motion passed. In other new business, the group decided to go to Messy Missy’s for a painting party over Christmas break. A motion was made by Hallie and seconded by Jace, and the motion passed. The mothers will get together and find a date that works for everyone. The group also decided to do a service project, so we decided to volunteer at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown over the winter. We developed a committee, (members Frances, Angel, Stephenie, Hallie, and Emilie) to find out more information on what we can do for the veterans and report back at our next meeting. Stephenie made a motion to have a gift exchange at our December meeting, the limit for the gift being $10. Wyatt seconded the motion, it passed. The December meeting will be December 5th at 6:30 pm at Chapel Church. The 4-H pledge was led by Wyatt. Hallie made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Stephenie seconded it. The motion was passed.
