Senior Citizens’ Lunch at Chapel Sept. 11

These Chapel ladies served the September 11th senior citizens’ lunch (l-r): Connie Buchman, Carol Lamer, Carolyn Kloster, Sue Koster, and Shirley Svendsen. Karen Handorf was absent for the picture.

The Chapel Church Volunteer ladies hosted nearly 30 Gladbrook senior citizens on Friday, September 11, 2015, at11:30 p.m. at their church. Guests were served chicken stuffing casserole, buttered peas, fresh fruit salad, rolls, cucumber pasta, graham cracker dessert, and drinks. The tables were decorated with Gladbrook crocks that were filled with fluffy weeds! The program theme was “Hometown Memories.” Sue Koster read a poem entitled “Hometown.” Guests drew questions out of 1960 Gladbrook Basketball State Champion glasses. They enjoyed discussing their memories, such as “What Gladbrook business is closed now that you wish was still open?” “Which organization in town do, or did you, enjoy being a part of?” and “What is a special Corn Carnival memory?” Sue read the closing article, “What My Town Should Mean,” which was written by U.S. Hulse, the 1927 editor of the Tama Northern. The next senior citizen’s lunch willbe Friday, October 9, at the Memorial Building at 11:30 a.m. Please get reservations to Jeanne Paustian, 473-2802 or home 473-2843.
