Kay Lowry and Carol Mead led the devotions which was centered around the poem, A Time for Pray. Carolyn Anker and Marilyn Brekke had a delightful lunch of quick breads and muffins on fall decorated tables. Kay Lowry had the lesson on ” How is it with your soul?” Her lesson was taken from a book of Adam Hamilton. He believes you are touched with prayer with yours hands, heart and hands. Many references in the bible were touched such as by Hannah, Samuel, Jesus, and God. Pray should be addressed. It isn’t always perfect. God doesn’t want perfection just need to practice. Jesus was found praying at different times during the day but we need to pray often. In the morning, we should get for greater wisdom and direction to start our day. Noon a good time to add more and at the end of a day. Thanks God for wisdom. Where should we pray—a comfortable place. How should we pray. Hannah spent time to listen to God. Breathing exercises might help. If unable to pray, make a list, be a listener, and encourage. She touched on the ACTS form of prayers as well as the 5 finger prayers. Don’t be afraid to get help. Soup supper plans are getting to together this coming Sunday after church. Nov 3. Is the date. Anyone is invited to plan this coming Sunday. Jo Anne Sash and June Klinefelter are co chairman. Bishop’s annual project is 100 books and 100 hours of reading. The books collected will be divided between GR and GMG. Richard Klinefelter will build a shelf to be used by youth and adults books available for members and families. There will be a collection in church for support of this project. New and good used books will be accepted. Joan Surber called June about the Trick or Truck night. She would like to see the UMW sponsor the hot dogs and drink. Last year they spent $100. For hot dogs and supplies. They decided that they didn’t need the chips because they got 9 pkg and only used 5. Joyce Bruene made the motion and Carolyn Moe seconded. Carol Mead reported that the nominating has met and needs a president, and officers. Maxine Schoel and Carolyn Moe are meeting a half hour before church service prayers. They would like other members to come for that prayer service. June reminded the group after each UMW activity the chairman write–up the success or changes she suggests put that write–up in the drawer in the kitchen so it can be referred to by the next chairman. At Northeast District Annual meeting and Officers Training, our group will be represented by June Klinefelter and Joyce Bruene on September 18. Next meeting, October 21 is at 1:30 p.m. Carol Mead and Kay Lowry are hostesses, Joyce Bruene. Has devotions and Carolyn Moe has the lesson. The thank offerings will be collected. We closed the meeting with all reciting the Purpose of the UMW.
