Working with our Pre-school , summer program at the library and Kids Club were suggested. Our main Community Service project is serving the Senior Citizens in October, December and July. Send your reservations to Jeanne for the October 9 dinner served by the Auxiliary at the Memorial Bldg. The Children and Youth project of Kids Shopping day will be held at PUCC again on Saturday December 12 as the Lions are serving soup at the Memorial Bldg. Donations of particularly men’s and smaller children’s gifts are always needed. And cash donations are appreciated to fill in these needs. Volunteers are also need, just call Jeanne, Becky Fish or Karen Pieper. The Juniors will start their year with a family potluck at 6:30pm on Sunday evening, September 27 at the Memorial Bldg. They will also be filling shoe boxes for the ‘Operation Christmas Child’ project again. Items that will fit into a shoe box may be donated with packing on October 17. These boxes are sent to needy countries and may include school items, personal items, socks, but without USA logos or the US flag on them. Drop items off to Jeanne at PUCC. Jeanne announced that all the 2016 obligations and regular donations have been paid, with a total of $948 paid to department on a membership of 247. District and County per capita has been paid along with our poppy order of 1500 small and 100 large poppies. The food stand proceeds and Legion/Auxiliary donations were split with the Legion. November will be the Veterans Day potluck at 6:30pm with SAL members and spouses invited. Dept, District and County Legion commanders have been invited. Our December meeting is always a favorite as the Juniors provide the Legion and Auxiliary with a candlelight Christmas program on Wednesday evening, December 16 at 6:30pm. Our January, February and March meetings will be held on the 3rd Monday evening with the Legion so not to interfere with other meetings. The Board recessed for the meal furnished by the officers, Malinda Eggers, and Stacy Melton.
